Mathematics Week held from 5th December - 9 December

Bertrand Russell once said “Let the relation of knowledge to real life be very visible to our pupils and let them understand, how by knowledge the world could be transformed”. Following the same lines of thought, Modern Era Convent, B-1, Janak Puri, celebrated ‘Mathematics Week’. The aim was to apprise students about the importance of Mathematics in our lives and to motivate them to pursue the subject ardently. A large number of students participated with vigour and zeal in a gamut of activities ranging from sketching beautiful sceneries using numerals and mathematical symbols to solving mind boggling puzzles. To enhance mathematical vocabulary, students of class IV made a mathematical dictionary which also familiarized them with various mathematical terms. Students of class V honed their measuring skills through an activity on measurement of body height. Mathematics is all around us, this fact was reinforced when students of class VIII presented an enlightening skit highlighting the use and importance of mathematics in our day to day life. Students of class IX and X also gave heuristic PowerPoint presentations on various topics of their course of study. The overall efforts of the Mathematics faculty and students were lauded by the Principal.
