Modern Era Convent, Janak Puri, New Delhi celebrated Grandparents’ Day on Sunday, the 18th Feb’18 in the school premises. Ms. Daljeet Kaur (Former Additional Director, SCERT, Delhi) was the Chief Guest. for the day.
The programme started with Lighting of the Lamp by the distinguished guests followed by Aradhana-an obeisance to Lord Ganesha presented by the students of class I. Around 400 tiny tots of class Pre-School to II took the audience on a foray into songs, dances and plays. The highlight of the show was the musical presentation ‘Beeti Baharain’presented by the students of Pre-school & Prep depicting the love of grandchildren for their Grandparents. Through ‘Beeti Baharain’ the children tried to revive the olden, golden years of their Grandparents. The other enthralling programs included a presentation on ‘Ramayana’ by students of Pre-School & Prep and a play ‘ The Provider’ by students of class II.
The entire programme brought to light the fact that Grandparents are the bedrocks of a family, the shady trees that lovingly shower their cool shade and time on their grandchildren and family. It conveyed the message to all present that grandparents are our heritage- the custodians of our values, stories, histories of families and communities.
Amidst the cultural programme, around 20 students of classes Pre-School to II were also given appreciation awards for their regularity, punctuality and upkeep of their notebooks.
The programme ended with a dance sequence ‘Thirakte Paaon’ by students of class I & II which showcased the incredible culture of India through the folk dances of Uttarakhand, Haryana and Punjab.
The efforts of the tiny tots and the entire faculty of the school was appreciated by one and all.
